trading cards (ATC/ACEO) will be up for sale in
my Etsy shop.

What is Etsy?
Etsy is a separate website with a wide variety of sellers offering
handmade goods. Their site allows me to sell single quantity artwork, then the
listing is immediately ended, while reaching a broader audience to help sell
the item as quickly as possible.

I started this website in 2004 as a way to make money from home when I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins
At the time I was forced to drop out of college and quit my job so I could complete chemotherapy and
radiation treatments for the cancer. Luckily the doctors were able to cure the cancer, but the treatments used have had
many side effects over the years. For a while I was able to deal with the minor things, such as my thyroid stopped
working, but the prescription medications have been tolerable. My lungs started to become hypersensitive, and any
allergen puts me into an asthmatic fit. The medications for that are very expensive (even the lowest cost generic asthma
inhaler costs $45) and the health insurance to make that even possible has been difficult to maintain.

In recent years the price of health care has become hard for the average person to afford. Until Obama's healthcare
options were put in place, I was considered "uninsurable" and put into a special pool of people who have ever had
cancer, diabetes or a heart attack. This means I was blacklisted from getting normal health insurance and was only able
to apply for a special high risk pool within the state I lived in. The cost to just be insured every month was over $300 for
myself, which I had to pay out of my less than minimum wage earnings generated from this website's sales.
At least temporarily, until the plans are discontinued, I am able to get insurance for $150 a month after tax credits. Unfortunately because
of my self employment income being on the border of federal poverty level, the healthcare application system puts my healthcare on hold for several months
each year while they debate my eligibility for medicaid. After they deny me because I'm too young and not pregnant, I can finally get the tax credit approval that
makes it possible for me to even have coverage. The system is a complete mess.

Once I gained coverage for this year I again started my slew of blood tests, x rays, mammograms, ultrasounds, echocardiogram/TEE etc. that are required to
check on the state of my post-cancer treated body. In recent years I've been having nonstop wheezing, which I assumed was asthma related. I've been having
difficulty working out, as I have chest pressure and get short of breath when I go up any stairs or start pressing myself. It seemed asthma related. Then a few
times my legs/ankles got really swollen. I had some of the tests mentioned above, and it wasn't until the echocardiogram my doctors finally figured out what is

There are a few things you never want to hear from a Cardiologist... "severe" mitral valve regurgitation, "let's talk about valve replacement" (that means
open heart surgery, sawing open your breastbone and all - yikes!), and "congestive heart failure" are some of them.
I've been through enough health issues
in the past decade not to panic when the doctor said these things to me, but I was quite surprised because it wasn't something I expected to deal with in my 30s
(these issues are most common in people aged 65+). After my cancer treatments I was mainly warned about risks of breast cancer as a side effect to getting
radiation therapy to the chest. No one ever mentioned heart problems, though I've seen a lot of new studies warning of cardiovascular issues in young people
who've had cancer treatments.

I have to start planning for the future, right now I'm working on lowering my blood pressure and walking as much as possible. The valve issue means that my
heart has backward flow of bood when the valve doesn't close all the way. This causes fluid build up in my lungs making me wheeze all day every day. The lack
of blood flow means I don't get enough oxygen and nutrients throughout my body to support strenuous activity. I may have to take time off work (which at that point
will mean shutting down this site for several months, plenty of warning will be posted at that time). Unfortunately as of right now I am not in a financial position to
consider taking that kind of time off work, or affording the surgery itself, or how I'll even continue to afford the slew of medications I've been put on.

So far, my best idea to start saving for the valve replacement procedure is to create a fundraiser sale where I make as much affordable artwork as
possible (priced to sell quickly) and put it up in
my etsy shop where it will reach the largest audience. I will also post personal craft supply bundles,
collections of beads, buttons and more to generate as much cash as possible from the stuff I have at home

Thank you for your support,
Kimberly Crick

Cart errors? Due to a security update by PayPal (the shopping cart system this website uses) most "add to cart"
buttons created years ago became out of date, resulting in an error message on the cart page. Unfortunately this
has created tremendous financial hardship due to very few orders coming through. Throughout Sep-Oct 2017 every
item's cart button has to have it's HTML coding rewritten, accounting for over 1,000 items site wide, which will take
weeks of updates.
I appreciate your patience during this update. If you have experienced an error, please click
your browser's reload/refresh page button to look for updated button icons.
Rectangular shape buttons without
rounded sides may result in an error when
attempting to add an item to cart.
